Came home with a Rohrbaugh today
« on: September 11, 2005, 02:44:40 AM »
Hi to everyone on the forum.  This is my first post after having found this forum last week.  I saw my first R9 when Duane showed me his at the Close Range Gunfighting class that we took with Gabe Suarez last January. I had been thinking about that pistol ever since. I was impressed. I started giving it more serious thought in the last few weeks. I knew that for the purpose of marital harmony I would need to peddle a few things before the purchase. I sold a Kimber CDP and a few other gun things that I had around the house .  I went to the gun show today in hopes of finding a dealer that had an R9 in stock. I found two and did some negotiating but the price was still kind of high. Left the show a little disappointed and went home. Well about an hour later I got back in my truck and went back to the gun show.  When I got to the table the pistol was gone.  Disappointment again. Well turns out they moved it, so I finally bought it. A day of ups and downs but I was excited as I drove home with my new R9. Probably the smoothest out of the box double action trigger pull I have ever felt. I also picked up a few boxes of Gold Dot 115 and 124 to check out in the R9. Hope to get to the range tomorrow.
I have learned alot about the Rohrbaugh by reading posts on this forum and look forward to learning alot more and contributing.

Welcome, LCP!

I too am somewhat of a new member.  I have taken my recently purchased R9S to the range (indoors) a couple of times with primary interest on accuracy.  Instead, yesterday I took it to the outside range with the primary interest this time of being reliability of different ammo with feed/eject, etc.  I should have done this from the beginning!  Maybe I was more relaxed since I wasn't trying to "10" every shot, but what a great experience.  I loaded up magazines with different high quality ammo and bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang - as fast as I could pull the trigger.  Perfect feed and eject every time.  And I couldn't believe how naturally it returned to point after every round.  My accuracy results were fantastic, as well.  And, believe it or not, I didn't even notice the recoil!  I feel much better about this gun now, after using it in this manner and seeing the results.  Just keep it cleaned and well greased!

Welcome to the forum, LCP.

I know the feeling.  I just got mine in August.

It's a terrific pistol.  I'm surprised we didn't have to pay a higher price.   :)

I read your very well done ballistic report that you posted on The High Road. this was well laid out and I could see alot of work went into that report.  I was real surprised at the velocity you got out of this little barrel.  I read this information before I purchased my R9 last weekend.
I happened to have on order a case of Remington UMC ammo in 223 on order for my AR.  It started making me concerned about the ammo but again thats like comparing apples and oranges.

LCP - the THR report was an early one and if you peek at the FAQ site (link in my sig) you'll see buttons for tests #2 and #3..... where I have tried quite an assortment of ammo.
