Does anyone know how many Rohrbaughs have been made so far?

Under 750, I'd guess.

But, no, I don't know.

But on the other hand, don't let that worry you.  Rohrbaugh has probably made more R9-series guns than Les Baer has made in his Stinger line, etc. Factory semi-custom guns don't have big runs, and that's what these are - factory semi-custom guns. They show an attention to detail that you won't find in a standard factory gun, and they work.  :)

I believe serial numbering with the R-9 started at 100 or 101?
Mine is an lower 900s number, so I'd guess there's probably at least some 800 Rohrbaugh guns around, probably more.

Eric, my Les Baer Stinger has a serial number in the 11,000 range. I know nothing of Baer's numbering system, but I'll bet there's a lot more Stingers than Rohrbaughs out there, judging from the commoness of posts about the Stinger on the 1911 forum! The Rohrbaugh is still really pretty rare, and most gun enthusiasts of my acquaintance have never seen one.

Hi guys!
When I spoke to Eric at the SHOT Show last year, he told me mine was one of the first 150 made (or let loose to the general public). I also know they kept the first 100 guns made as souvenirs, I guess;^) Maybe it was a retirement investment?;^)

Anyway, my s/n is R2XX and the guns were not made in a sequence that follows normal numbering systems. They probably had the first 1000 or slides made (with the Farmingdale, NY slide) and used them till they were gone.  No rhyme or reason to the s/n. They just pulled them off the shelf as they needed them with no regard to a sequential numbering system. So, some guys got their guns later than I did, but with lower serial numbers than I.  Such is life...

Sawbones, very interesting. Actually, now that I think of it, considering the number of people I know with Stingers . . .

I'm not at all concerned about how many they have produced. Just curious.

I'd guess too - 700 - 800 have actually gone out.

My R9S serial is R93x and is a week away from the dealer who says he had it for all of 3 days.   This is only slightly less production than my Kobra Carry serial 11xx.  Hand made "production" pistols still take time to produce.

Hello to all.  I am a new member to the Forum although I have read all posts since the forum was started. I am a shareholder at Rohrbaugh and I am a little biased.  Mr Hedley I would like to Thank You for the Holster.  I will carry it with pride. RE the number of guns shipped. Last time I was at the factory they were working on guns in the 1100 range.

I put the Kobra Carry and Rohrbaugh R9S in the same category:  Professional Tools.  The Kobra is a tad heavier, however, than the R9S!

The Kobra goes with me when I can handle the bulk and weight.   So far the R9S has gone with me everywhere legally permitted!

Kobra with thin AlumaGrips melts in my hand.  These are two complimentary pistols for me.
