P7 For R9S?
« on: February 26, 2007, 04:51:48 PM »
Well after shooting my new R9 a couple of times and having no issues with this gun I've come to the decision to pack this one away and pick up another (aka R9SCarry).  This will be a newer model R9S, for the sights....I tell myself, but really I just want another one.  Problem being on hand $$$$, so I've come to the decision of liquidating a P7M8 thats been gathering dust in my safe for a couple of years.  My zone buddy who is a bigger Hk nut than me is taking it off my hands for a fair price and I've pretty much justified the selling of it.  So if all goes as planned next week I'll have Rohrbaugh #2 in the stables.  R9S will be my e-d-c and R9 will reside in the P7's stall.

Newt was right .... maybe I will  change my handle to R9-Itch!

Most of the guns I've sold I've not missed, but I think I would not be able to come to terms with selling a P7M8. :(

I sold a P7M8 several years ago and have no regrets whatsoever. I do somewhat regret selling a Springfield Professional though.

I've had the good fortune of having many unique guns in the past.  I've not had the good fortune of having the funds to obtain those guns, so....things get traded....things get sold....  I've had several variations of the P7 in the past and all were excellent guns.  But like my moniker says, I've got a  itch that needs scratch'n.  I still have several Hk's that I'd prefer to hang on to.  And I really don't regret selling or trading away any specific gun......well except for that SP89 that was a fun shooter...or the Bren Ten (Miami Vice days 8)), oh and then there was the Asp... :'(

For me, if I was down to one Bren Ten it would be one of the last guns to go due mainly to it's rarity.  It is a fine combat weapon that was ahead of it's time as well.

Reinz,  That Bren Ten that I had was the standard model with the 2-tone finish.  Got it new with the box and paperwork plus an extra mag.  I never shot it and I was foolish enough to use it as trade material on the "new" Bren Ten, the Peregrine Falcon that never materialized :-[.  Not really my dealers fault though.  He showed/gave me all the brochures on the new Bren and told me he had 4 on order.  Well if you never heard of the Peregrine Falcon then you know what happened to that deal.  I still have all the neat looking brochures though.  Of all the guns that I had, that's the one I wish I'd of shot.

HK - I'm very aware of the Perigrene Falcon fiasco.  I was highly disappointed by the failure of the Voit Co.'s  inabilabilty to come through, as were many other Bren Ten fans.

Give me a PM if you are ever going to be coming through East Texas.  We'll go to the range (indoor or outdoor, depending upon the weather) and I'll let shoot one of my Brens.  I put them at top of the list with the P7.  It is a fine weapon.

Thanks for the offer Reinz and if I'm ever in the Great State I'll do just that.

Yup, I really thought that the redesigned gun would be so much better.  It had a beefier frame especially around the  rails (I'd heard of possible weak points in the Bren frame).  But overall look and feel was true to the original design.  Sure would be nice if someone could purchase the rights/plans or whatever and build it.

Hk - I 've pretty much been on the Bren train since the beginings.  Never heard of of weak frames.  Cracked slides yes, especially on the Special Forces models.  Extractors, slide stop breakages, Mag probs, and such, but the  frame is a new one on me.

Now maybe the Voit designers thought they could head some problems off at the pass by beefing up the frame maybe ?  I do not know.  But I guess anything is possible, and you can't  hear of everything.

And there is a lot of us praying for a resurrection of the Bren.  But  a lot of experts say it is like the Automag - too cost prohibitive.

Sorry, don't know how to zap you directly to it.  Just go to Gunbroker and punch in Bren Ten. :o 8)

Hk - thanks for pointing those out.     Those would be a awesome catch!  But  if you noticed, that was the starting price, and the reserve was not met!
My guess is that they will bring at least $6500-7000 for the pair.
I think my days of adding any more to my collection are probalbly over.  The prices just went nuts over the last year or so.
