New Robar
« on: June 18, 2010, 06:58:14 PM »
I just wanted to say thank you all for such an excellent forum! I have been checking in from time to time for the past 8 months. I was not going to join/post until I purchased an R9. Well, today I picked up my Robar R9. A Meco holster had been waiting for over a month for it.
I have a couple of questions. Why in the world are they called "Pup"? I thought I say some suggested tools someplace on the forum. Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks

Robar.  Welcome to the Forum and congrats on getting the R9 Robar.  The term "pup" came from a Forum member here, R9SCarry, who used that term way back, and it stuck.  Since then everyone used it when referring to the R9.

Yankee2500 (John) here on the Forum has a take down tool when available.  Look in the classifieds or probably he'll let you know.  Again, welcome.

Robar233,
Welcome to the group, and congratulations on the Robar pup
I went the poor mans way to a Robar Robaugh, by buying a regular model and sending it to Robar for the treatment. ;D

Here is some information on the origin of the term PUP.

I have the takedown tool available, I will PM you the info.
