R - 45 ?
« on: October 25, 2007, 02:17:30 PM »
Not sure where to post this so I am sticking it in here.
(Gator, move it to where it should be if needed)

I see some reference to a new R-45.  Has anyone any information or seen this firearm?

Anyone have an idea of when these might be released?

Thanks from a forum newbie,
~Randy

No one here knows anything about the R45 or would not spill the beans, so I called the factory.

The R45 will be out as soon as the .380 gun is in full production and everything is going well.  They hoped to have the prototype R45 at the Shot Show in January but because of problems in the .380 things have been slowed down.

My guess from what I heard is next spring/summer.

Best,
~Randy

I got a similar story from Searching Google. Can't wait to see this gun. If I like my Pup as much as I imagine, I'll order a R45 sight unseen. Anyone know why they're producing a 380 (other than to heve one)? Will it be even smaller than the R9?

I believe this info. is correct but I am not one of the brothers R.

R380 will be identical in size to the R9.  One of the reasons for a 380 is that the recoil of an R9 is a bit to much for some people and probably a lot of women.

Another reason, and this is only MY opinion, is that theoreticlly the R380 should be much less tempremental than the R9, as in there should be far fewer functioning problems that many have experienced.

The R45 will be about 1/3 larger than the R9.  I have no desire for a R45 myself.  At a third larger than my R9's it will be to large for me to conceil comfortably.

Hummmmmm........hope your information is "not" correct on the size of the R45.  I would also buy one sight un-seen if it were just a tad bigger than these pups.  9mm is not my favorite self defense cartirdge!  Then on the other hand I don't want to pack a varation of a 1911, so the R9 looks great for what it is.

A purely defensive wepon to get your ass out of a jam or protect someone close to you in a life threatening situation.  Social shooting is going to be up close and personel, no long range stuff for sure.  A 9mm double tap is really going to get some perps attention!

Thanks for the thoughts,
~pdxRandy

What problems with the 380? I was hoping to get one soon but if there are problems with them, it might be better to wait a while until they have everything worked out properly.

"Problem" was my choice of words.  Not theirs!

Maybe I should have said that they are not hitting their time table as they planned, which is slowing down the R45.

Nothing was said to me about a problem with the firearm!

Don't read more into this than there is.  I know nothing about the .380 gun!  No intrest in the firearm at all.

I would buy a .380 for a petite woman who could not be convinced to carry a 9mm, but only reluctantly. Rape gun is a good description I read (on another site - I think. ) I'm interested in the R-45 for the same reason I became interested in the R9.. Compact, no doubt very well made, clean lines, and a delivery "like a rock thru a plate glass window" (anyone remember where this line came from?)

So hey guys - the moment is here! My dealer just called. My R9 Stealth just arrived!!! Have to wait until tomorrow to go pick it up cause the cat has to go to into kitty surgery today. Imagine that - the Sox win the series, the Patriots are mowing down all comers (hopefully Indy too!), and I get the firearm I've been waiting decades for, ALL IN THE SAME WEEK!!!!!

Fine Print: NO offense to lovers of 380's, or anyone not liking exterraneous talk about kittys, surgery, baseball, football, or my hope of Indy getting shut out this weekend, These are the views of the poster, and not neccessarily those of the moderators or their sponsors!

Shakermountain:

Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on acquiring your R9 Stealth. I think you'll find it to be one of the finest CCW pieces yet produced.

As for the Patriots vs. the Colts . . . .  Well . . . at least we agree on the R9. (Here in East Tennessee, Peyton Manning is a household name.  ;) )

Thanks Richard, I appreciate the welcome. Jusy picked up my NightPup yesterday! Haven't even put a round thru it. Maria told my dealer a month, and it came in after only a two-week wait! After handling numerous Kahr, Keltecs, Berretas, HK's and Even the baby Glocks and Colts, I'm very impressed with the lines (sights dont seem to hamper draw at all!) feel, and cycling of the works. I'm going to field strip and lubricate it per instructions here then go empty a couple of boxes of Winwhite 115s behind the barn. (BTW My dealer told me he swept out his garage of range rubbish, took the buckets of brass to the scrap yard last week and they gave him $397.00 for the load. so SAVE YOUR BRASS!!!)
RE Peyton Manning - He a household name around here too, if only for the fact that ESPN now apparently requires his presence in every commercial they show on air!!!!! GO PATRIOTS!!!!!`:~>
