R9s still light primer strikes and FTR

I've got a R9s, bought new a couple of years ago.  Initially had some failures to fire, apparently light primer strikes.  Sent it to Rohrbaugh.  They said the grip screws were loose, they tightened those, fired 3 or 4 mags and found no problem.  Seemed better when I got it back, fired 50 rounds or so, all seemed well.  (Only using Winchester silvertips, btw).  Shot it again recently, same thing, FTF, primer strike looked light.  Grip screws were tight.  Couldn't find anything stuck in the firing pin hole.  Same ammo goes bang everytime with the Glock.

So, I don't really trust this gun to go bang everytime.  I know people talk of "hard primers."  But the other 9mms never seem to have FTFs with the same batch of ammo and the primer strike indentations are heavier.

Is it possible to put a heavier trigger spring in the R9s to make it a little more robust in this area?  Because if it can't hit those primers a little harder, I'm just not going to carry it.

Am I correct in interpreting your post that about two years elapsed between the time you received the R9 back from the factory and fired 50 flawless rounds and the recent range session that was problematic? If so, did you clean and lube the R9 before the recent session?

No, it was probably a year since the last session, and yes, I did clean and lube it.

My R9s does the same thing with some types of ammo. The worst is Speer. The only ammo I've tried that gives zero problems is any kind of Federal, Its never had a failure of any kind with it. I practice with American eagle and carry Federal Hydra shok.  I've got between 300 & 500 trouble free rounds. It is frustrating, I sent it back to Carl right after I got it, Didn't seem to help. However I do feel safe carrying  it as long as I use Federal ammo.

This is not the first time I have heard that Federal makes the best primers; I think good primers are the key in light striking tendencies in some small 9mm handguns.

Can I ask what specific type of Federal ammo you use and did you get an answer about having a stronger
spring installed?

I did not ask about the heavy spring.  I've got it loaded now with federal hydra-shok 124 grain. Ive also tried the Federal in the plastic box from Walmart. Both have performed with zero problems. I've ran about 5 boxes each. I now practice with American Eagle 115 grain. Sometimes I will run a magazine of CCI aluminum. I will get some lite strikes with it, But its good practice. It reminds me not to dip the gun when firing. Also it has always fired even the hard primers with a 2nd pull of the trigger.

Went to the range yesterday...R9 was flawless using Gold Dot 124 (13 rounds) and Lawman 124 (50 rounds).  Ditto for Boberg using PMC 115 and Lawman 124 and Seecamp .32 using Gold Dot and Silvertips.  Good day at the range!
