By the weight difference between the two you could make five Rohrbaughs from one of these and have some material left over :o

I have one -- all 4+ pounds of it. I refer to it as "my zombie blaster." It's almost a religious experience to shoot the thing.  As I was taking delivery of it at my FFL's shop, another customer standing at the counter asked, "Why in **** would you buy such a pistol?" I replied, "Because I want to and I can."    8)

I feel the same way about my S & W .500.  Had a friend ask me that question and gave him nearly the same response.

I have had the Opportunity too shoot the S&W 500 I believe it
has about 800 more ft. lbs. of torque than my DE. All I can
say is You better HOLD ON.LOL The only thing that gave me
pause about buying one was the $3.50 per cartridge cost. It
was fun shooting it though.

Wg Jr:

That is an excellent price you are now offering.

For those not familiar with the DE .50AE, field stripping one is a simple process since the pistol has only six main parts, including the magazine. Also, because of its gas-operated system, rotating bolt, and overall weight, the DE has less felt recoil than might be imagined. The near "religious experience" I mentioned above comes from the feel of the pistol's rotating bolt together with its sound and muzzle flash when fired. As an indication of that, consider this photograph which was posted sometime earlier by another member of the Forum:

As the photograph shows, the DE can be mounted with a scope for hunting.

I have no personal connection with this sale, but I didn't want my previous comments about the awesome aspects of these "zombie blasters" to dampen anyone's interest.
