Seventeen years ago today, the lady whom I have the extraordinary good fortune to call my wife decided to take a chance on a man who had then recently returned from four years in Africa and was still prone to eat with the fingers of his right hand without benefit of utensils. She not only helped me become "housebroken" again but has made me a better man than I had ever been before I met her. And it didn't hurt anything when I discovered that she was, in addition to being a judge, a hunter and Second Amendment supporter who could shoot as well if not better than I could myself.
