Eric:
That is a real "bummer"!
Of course, there is always the Small Claims Court route, but that would involve more time and effort than it would be worth. I think my advice would be to try one more time to obtain assistance from the manufacturer, this time by formal letter (certified mail, return receipt requested) to the CEO of the company, copy to the General Counsel, advising that any further failure to respond will result in complaints being filed with the Better Business Bureaus of their state and yours, the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, letters to the editors of their advertising outlets, and postings to the major gun boards on the Internet.
If the manufacturer still ignores you, I would take the ****** safe to the best welding shop in your community and have the most experienced welder there cut the door from the piece of junk. It should be able to be done without any damage to the R9 inside.
I would then take photographs of the breached safe and follow through by filing the threatened complaints, photographs included, with the BBBs, the CPSC, and the FTC. I would would also send the photographs along with letters to the editors of magazines in which the manufacturer advertises and post the photos and a summary of your experience on some of the better gun boards.
"Don't get mad. Get even."
Good luck, and keep us posted!
